Black Country, New Road – Ants From Up There

Black Country, New Road’s “Ants From Up There” transforms them from the unique sound that they previously possessed as a band, following the exit of Isaac Wood. The moods of this album are varies and sounds like indie rock combined with orchestral to make a perfect tracks. “Concorde” and “Chaos Space Marine” demonstrate the band’s willingness and even capability of straying away from convention but not straying too far away from catchiness. The orchestration is dense, yet there are particular sections which denote reflection and other sections which call for pomp. The words are somewhat sad yet profound that they echo life’s reality well, hence a very inspiring piece, so to speak. With “Ants From Up There”, the band artfully continue in carving their stance as pioneers and bring listeners a fresh material which is, in turn, personal and grandiose.
