Somehow, Mooncult’s “Ghost Song” sticks to your bones with an intensity typical of garage bands but with far more depth. As the first single out of six that Brooklyn-based quartet is expected to release this year, it is upbeat with elements of thriller that include vocal wails and moody guitar. The track starts with jumpy guitar noise and groove beat, then transfers into an engaging vocal which makes the listener hooked; ice-cold vocals of Raven contrast to expressive guitar of Rajeev, and robust drums and bass by Tia and Grover respectively. The song reaches a disturbing end, with conversational vocal layers harmonizing with the low guitar grind, which only adds to the song’s sheer rock n roll attitude.
