Overall, The Black Keys’ Delta Kream is an album that honors the blues icons that the band admires. Though this album is mostly comprising of the copyrights, it goes Right to The Core and traces the gravities of the genre deep to help the listeners understand how much this pair of musical artists really love their musical origins. Songs like “Crawling Kingsnake” and “Going Down South” is energetic and full of energy, you can here Dan Auerbach singing and Patrick Carney drumming. This minimalism is comprehensive but necessary in order to allow the production to bring out the organic nature of the music. Instead of trying to hit the charts, The Black Keys give their respect to the artists that inspired them and hence they produced music that has that old feel to it but is new at the same time. Thus, “Delta Kream” is quite an authentic nod to blues regardless of it being viewed as postmodern, and the album only confirms that the duo is one of the true inheritors of the blues legacy nowadays.
