Sleater-Kinney’s latest album “Path of Wellness” is about self-discovery and internal and external struggles especially concerning the recent loss of drummer Janet Weiss. The disc records the combination of the groups’ sonic identity with the issues of mental disorders and social pressure which reflect the groups’ first albums’ emotionality and topicality. Songs like “High in the Grass” and “Shadow Town” point toward today’s evil but at the same time, there is hope included in the music as well. And this recording embodies emotions of the live performance by recording electric sound which illustrates the aggression of the bands music. There is something that might feel a bit forced at sometimes, but one can’t deny that the lyrics depict raw emotions. ”Path of Wellness” is a song that prompts the listener to contemplate about one’s hardships while also encouraging, and for that reason, it fits right in Sleater-Kinney’s discography.
