MOD CON’s “Modern Condition” album provides melodic slimy rock n roll which is about some degree of human instinct. Here, three musicians from Melbourne draw not only from garage rock in the ‘60s, post-punk in the late 70s and punk-pop in the ‘90s to come up with new wave rock ‘n’ roll. Erica Dunn’s singing voice floats over the music in the manner that only indicates the immense bond between the people in the band. Songs such as ‘Ammo’ and ‘The War’, follow the path of contemporary sufferings as full-blast as it encourages the audience to question their own lives. It speaks volumes that this is MOD CON’s debut while at the same time is highly commercial and clean but not squeaky clean, “Modern Condition” is an album that is therefore stimulating to listen to and showcases the band’s creativity.
