“Changeup” by Joan Jett accompanied by the Blackhearts is a significant improvement which brings accoustic versions of some of her popular songs. This album gives new meanings to songs such as “Cherry Bomb” and “Bad Reputation” giving them quite a deeper meaning. Even after all these years, Jett has not lost her voice and it delivered powerful lyrics and energy of a rock n roll singer of her days. The newly conceived versions facilitate a reinterpretation of the lyrical content and gives focus to Jett’s as a songwriter. As such, each song appears to be personal and as if one is being told storeys behind the songs one is listening to. Based on “Changeup”, it is safe to conclude that Jett’s music is still relevant and appreciated among fans.
