Toronto duo Twin Rains is back with their new track “You’re the Only One,” officially an “apocalyptic love song” that sounds like dream-pop-fronting-post-punk. This track is a return without pizzazz after their 2021 record *Unreal City* though there is a Pop intensity as well as clouds of Progressive Rock. Using the combination of a lonely initial guitar strUMmAGE and fiery distortion and vocals, the song remains dreamlike with elements of urgency dialed up to 11. Even as the song oscillates between slow ballad in its verses to full-on rock in its chorus, ‘You’re the Only One’ stands out as one of the song that show that Twin Rains is still a band that can make its mark today.
