Rosetta West – Dora Lee (Gravity)

"Dora Lee (Gravity)" offers a thunderous blues rock incantation that roars with raw power and mysticism as Rosetta West makes their immediate welcome return. Straight from the first searing riff, the track drags you into the bluesy primal forces colliding with psychedelia transcendental. Gritty, commanding vocals from Joseph Demagore tell a story of supernatural seduction, with guitar work dripping with fuzz soaked intensity, but the rhythm section are what grounds the song in saturating fuzz: Herf Guderian’s rumbling bass and Mike Weaver’s powerhouse drums.

The song is brilliant for its duality, as its a stomping rock anthem drenched in esoteric prettiness. Mythological themes—here embodied by goddesses from Ishtar to Kali—makes "Dora Lee" into something more than a song: a ritual. The accompanying video only heightens the mystique, mixing military imagery with cryptic symbolism in a striking (if cryptic) tableau.

Being as Rosetta West  has prospered in the shadows they have been and no doubt they always will be, "Dora Lee (Gravity)" is why they stay underground legends. There’s no one else writing modern orientalist rock--hooks like these and this is a track that demands – no, employs – your attention. Turn it up and let its dark magic grip.
