The genuine emotion of “Palomino” is an excellent portrayal of the band’s change in First Aid Kit’s personal and artistic journey as well. The album brings a strong positive vibe and freedom, Klara and Johanna Söderberg leaving behind melancholic acoustic guitar and going full-band. Some songs such as “Angel” and “Out of My Head” are a combination of folk rock with certain glam feel as they embraced fun. Thus, it is quite noticeable that the sisters decided to abandon the dark themes of their previous discography, which contributed to the fact that ‘Palomino’ feels rather bright and lively. The instrumentation is rather opulent, with string and brass now contributing to the thickness of the harmonies. In general, it is possible to note that this album is joyful but realistic, full of both cheerful and touching notes, which may also point in some way to a sexual maturity of The Prodigy.
