Thus, one could argue that this is indeed a raw sound being their first album away from Motown and released after their pop cover of ‘Ready Steady Go’. The songs like “Skin of My Teeth” and “29”, containing her voice and resilience, try to give people first-hand experience of her sufferings. It is a heavy production that makes use of raw themes and lyrics encouraging people to get to know Lovato’s life story. However, as some of the songs are not very powerful, the listeners find much energy in the album and realize that Lovato belongs to the big stars.
