“Better” by Social Wave is a perfect example of an imbued single, which conveys pretty well fleeting connections. DRIV3 consist of steady percussion underpinned by a murky guitar progression: it very much offers a hazy rock vibe that pulls you into listen. The first verses provide the mood of new people connections while a bass drum rush has some post-punk vibes in it. Over the course of the song the poetic ‘don’t wanna leave’ hook and intensifies into a sadder and more poignant clamoring at the songs end. Thus, as profound as the continually unfolding and unexpected series of encounters of our lives might be, just as powerful as the small spark of contact, Lovefoxxx sings “Better”, which itself is defined by a post-punk, pop, and surf atmosphere.
